The 2019-20 EPL season is upon us, which means BTB's soccer package is kicking back off. Defending champion Manchester City is a heavy -200 favorite to repeat this season, while contenders from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham will be hot on their heels to swipe the crown. Lets take a look at some of the major losses and adds for the EPL's top teams.
Manchester City (Defending Champ) -200 to win Premier League
City comes in to the 2019 season fresh off a championship where they led the league in goal differential at +72 and picked up a whopping 98 points, while complying an amazing record of 32 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws. The 95 goals scored were also tops in the league. City's key adds definitely made them a better team and they kept their talent loss minimal. Look for them to repeat their goal total from last season as they should continue be an "over" team.
Adds - Rodri, Joao Cancelo, Angelino, Pedro Porro.
Losses - Danilo, Luiz, Delph, Garcia, Richards, Ambrose, Mari, Roberts.
Liverpool (defending runner up, by 1 point) +275 to win Premier League
Liverpool comes off a huge summer, where they won the Champions League over Tottenham. The Reds were quiet this offseason, after an active signing period last year which signals management is happy with their current roster. Falling just one point short of Man City in last years Premier League table, this team will be out for revenge, however, it remains to be seen as they do not possess the firepower of City.
Adds - Sepp van den Berg, Harvey Elliott, Adrian.
Losses - Ings, Mignolet, Camacho, Sturridge, Moreno, Wilson.
Tottenham (4th in 2018-19) +1800 to win Premier League
The Spurs come into this season with momentum after a sick run in the Champions League in which they eliminated Manchester City in one of the greatest soccer matches of the decade. After a busy offseason of making moves, something they hadn't done in the last two seasons, Tottenham is certainly in the mindset to win the league.
Adds - Ndombele, Clarke, Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon.
Losses - Trippier, Janssen.
Chelsea (3rd in 2018-19) +4000 to win Premier League
Coming off a 3rd place finish, Chelsea finds themselves in a possible letdown spot, much as their odds reflect. Losing Eden Hazard and David Luiz are two major moves which make it tough to remain in the top 4 even with new replacements in Pulisic and Kovacic. I look for Chelsea to take a step back this season and fall outside the top 4.
Adds - Pulisic, Kovacic.
Losses - Eden Hazard, David Luiz, Kalas.
Arsenal (5th place in 2018-19) +3300 to win Premier League
After a satisfying offseason signing period, Arsenal comes into this season tied with the 4th best odds to win the EPL. Though young, this team should be better than last season as they added some speed and experience.
Adds - Pepe, Saliba, Tierney, David Luiz, Ceballos.
Losses - Bielik, Welbeck, Ospina, Koscielny.
Manchester United (6th place in 2018-19) +3300 to win Premier League
The most valuable club and most supported club in the world, the Red Devils are coming off a wild season where they replaced managers and appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjær only to go on a nice run of 14 wins in 19 matches. With this success, Gunnar was given a rightfully earned three year contract extension. Look for them to bounce back this season after a slow start last year nearly bombed their future though the loss of Lukaku will be felt.
Adds - Maguire, Wan‑Bissaka, Daniel James.
Losses - Lukaku.
Predicted Finish
1 - Manchester City
2 - Liverpool
3 - Tottenham
4 - Manchester United
To Be Relegated
1 - Norwich
2 - Sheffield United
