Plus Money Lunch Money: Steelers at Chargers

I won’t lie to you, I love football and the NFL, but I want to punch the person that created the schedule this season. The only logical explanation is that he or she is a Steelers fan. The Steelers are once again playing in a primetime game, and it seems like those are the only games they have. Oh well, isolated games are still fun from betting angles. I’m going to share some longshots – or plus money plays for the matchup between them and the Chargers. If you want the full slate of cards, signup with BTB and BTBJesse by clicking Buy Packages.

Let’s start with the Steelers, Najee Harris is probably your only chance to score the opening touchdown of any of them. He’s done it in a few of the games, and he is one of the few players I like on the Steelers to even have a chance at scoring this game. I’ll play him at +550 to score the game’s opening touchdown, but I also think if the Steelers score, they are probably going to get in through Harris. I’ve mentioned this before, but he’s second on the team in targets in the receiving game. That combo usage gives me confidence in him if they can somehow find a way past the Chargers defense. I will put a larger play on him to score the Steelers specific first touchdown at +190.

Lately, a lot of attention has been put on Mike Williams and his season splits, being great and well used in the first half of the season to now being irrelevant. That stuff doesn’t go unnoticed by players. How much he cares, or any of them, really, is up to each individual player. I think Herbert will try to look Williams way more often than not in this game. After a lackluster performance against the Vikings, the Chargers should win this game with ease (in my opinion) but let’s see what happens. I’m going to take Williams to score 2+ touchdowns at +700. He hasn’t scored since October 10th, but he also already has two games with two touchdowns.

Just for reference, too, these plays all could go down quickly. That’s why they are lunch money plays. They are meant to be fun bets with some statistical and/gut backing to get our lunch paid for over the week. We’ve hit a few for sure already and continue to look for more opportunities. As my final play, I’m taking the Steelers under 1.5 touchdowns at +155. Flying across the country, having Mason Rudolph as your quarterback, and dealing with a good Chargers team that probably wants to avenge a home loss? Yea… I’ll take the under seeing as how the Steelers only scored one touchdown at home against the Lions.

Hopefully we have a beautiful feast before Turkey Day.
