2022 AFC West Win Total Best Bets

The plays are out, the bets should be made, but it isn't too late to add to the bets, right? Here we are, focused once again on win totals as we look at the AFC West. BTB and BTBJesse have combined for 4 NFL MAX Plays in addition to smaller ones. These are all available on the site in a single package, or with all full-season subscriptions. These are not their plays, just my thoughts on the teams.

Chiefs 12 - 5 last year, 1st in Division

The Chiefs sent Tyreek Hill packing and brought in the JuJu. On the offensive end, they stack up with just about any team out there, even without Hill. They added Smith-Schuster, as mentioned, but also former Green Bay Receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They might just be going for longest names on the back of jerseys. Still, the problem is the defense sucks. Their former leader, Tyrann Mathieu, is now gone. I really think Mahomes will need to have his best statistical season ever to compensate for how bad this defense will be. I'd never underestimate Mahomes. 11 games still seems reasonable for them to win. I will lay off this one, because I think it could come close.

Raiders 10 - 7, 2nd

The Raiders added Davante Adams to the squad and suddenly they have a solid running back, great tight end, and now a top wide receiver. If Carr can't make it happen this year, he can't make it happen. Still, their defense will face two great offenses this season, and an improved Denver team within their own division for six games of their 17. I would guess they split those games. The schedule does look pretty tough for the Radiers after they made the playoffs last season. I find it hard to believe they won't win 9 games though. I'll take the over.

Chargers 9 - 8, 3rd

I really like the Chargers this year. They are my pick for taking the division this year. Justin Herbert has been great since he stepped on the field. The addition of Gerald Everett gives them someone else to target occasionally, but the biggest acquisition came on the other side of the ball in Khalil Mack. If Mack can improve the defense and make it fearsome, the Chargers can really make a leap in the division and in the conference. I personally like the Chargers a lot, and see them getting to 11 wins.

Broncos 7 - 10, 4th

Russell Wilson is now at the helm of the Broncos, taking over for the rotating cast that they've had the last few years. They still have questions at running back, but they do have talent in that area. The wide receivers should be talented enough to connect quickly with Wilson. The defense allowed the least amount of points in the division last year, by a wide margin. If they can keep that up and have the improved offense, we could see a division with all four teams over .500. Still, I am not counting on them to win 10 games. I'd play the under but ultimately will stay off of it.

Good Luck!
